About Minivid

Last updated October 11, 2026

Minivid is an iPhone and iPad app that compresses videos and frees up storage on the device itself, made by Đào Văn Thương, an independent developer in Vietnam. It shows how big the compressed video will be before it starts, fits a video under the limit of an app such as Zalo, Messenger, WhatsApp or Gmail, and cleans up duplicate, blurry and dark photos. Videos and photos are never uploaded, there is no account, and compression works in airplane mode.

Why Minivid exists

Phone videos are far bigger than they need to be, and chat apps and email cap the size of what you can send. The usual fixes are to upload the video to a website that shrinks it, or to compress it blind and find out afterwards whether it fits.

Minivid does the job on the phone itself, with the same hardware encoder the camera uses, and tells you the resulting size before it starts. Nothing has to be uploaded, and it works without a connection.

It was built with people in Vietnam in mind, where videos are sent over Zalo and Messenger every day, so Send via… knows those apps’ limits as well as WhatsApp’s, Telegram’s and Gmail’s.

Privacy in short

  • Videos and photos never leave the device. Minivid has no server that receives them and no account.
  • RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, the identifier for vendor and purchase history, only to manage Minivid Pro. Payment is handled by Apple.
  • Anonymous usage statistics and crash reports (Google Analytics for Firebase, Firebase Crashlytics, PostHog) are always on and never include videos, photos, file names or anything typed.
  • No advertising SDK, no advertising identifier (IDFA) and no tracking across apps.
  • Feedback is sent only when the user writes it and taps Send.
